COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Financial Markets program provides students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in finance, preparing them for careers in trading, financial management, and investment analysis. Core modules include Corporate Finance 1 and 2, which cover company finance, investment appraisal, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance, equipping students with the theoretical and empirical knowledge required for managerial decision-making. Portfolio Theory and Asset Pricing explores Modern Portfolio Theory, investment decision-making, and asset valuation, while Stock Market Analysis introduces equity investing, asset classes, security analysis, and evaluation models. Fixed Income Securities Analysis focuses on understanding and evaluating fixed income instruments, investment data, and performance measurement. The program culminates in a Banking, Finance and Risk Dissertation, where students undertake an independent 15,000-word research project, demonstrating their ability to investigate complex financial topics. Optional modules allow students to specialise in areas such as Behavioural Finance, Computational Finance, Derivative Securities Analysis, Executive Compensation, International Finance, Quantitative Research in Finance, and Sustainable Finance. These electives provide insight into human financial decision-making, computational techniques, derivative pricing, global financial systems, econometric analysis, and the integration of sustainability in finance. Combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications and independent research, the MSc equips students with the skills necessary to succeed in competitive global financial markets.
