COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Finance and Econometrics program provides comprehensive training in both theoretical and applied econometrics, equipping students with the skills needed to analyse economic and financial data. Core modules include Applied Microeconometrics, which focuses on using individual-level data from firms and households to address applied research questions, Financial Econometrics, covering empirical techniques for evaluating asset price dynamics, Time Series Econometrics, which examines models for analysing economic and financial time series data, and Preliminary Mathematics and Statistics, ensuring students have the necessary quantitative foundation. The program also includes Quantitative Methods to develop analytical and software skills, and a substantial independent Dissertation, allowing students to conduct original research and contribute to knowledge in their chosen area. Elective modules enable students to specialise further, with options including Corporate Finance, Experimental Economics, Financial Derivatives, Health Policy and Economics, Household Finance, Labour Economics, and Resource and Energy Economics. These modules provide advanced understanding of corporate financial decision-making, consumer behaviour, experimental and policy-driven approaches, and resource allocation issues. By combining rigorous quantitative methods, applied research, and specialised finance and economics electives, graduates are well-prepared for careers in corporate finance, banking, fund management, economic research, or for pursuing further doctoral-level study, with strong analytical, modelling, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
