COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data and Decision Analytics MSc offers a comprehensive curriculum combining theoretical understanding with practical application in data science and operational research. Core modules include Computational Machine Learning and Optimisation, where students explore computational methods for data analysis; Data Mining and Analytics, which integrates R and SQL for real-world problem solving; and Fundamentals of Data Science in R, introducing essential techniques for data management and analysis. Additional modules such as Introduction to Python, OR Methods for Data Scientists, and Statistical Methods for OR Modelling build strong foundations in programming, optimisation, and statistical modelling. Students also select from a range of optional modules tailored to their interests and career goals. Options include Analytical Consultancy Skills, Computer-based Statistical Modelling, Design of Experiments, Financial Portfolio Theory, Flexible Regression, Forecasting, and Machine Learning. Further choices like Operational Research and Data Science Case Studies, Project Management, Project Risk Management, Revenue Management, and a final project allow students to apply their learning to real-world and research-based challenges.
