COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Computational Engineering Design program offers an in-depth exploration of advanced computational methods, numerical analysis, and mechanical engineering principles, preparing students for careers in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and bioengineering. Core modules develop expertise in computational modelling, design search and optimisation, and advanced mechanical engineering science, providing a solid foundation in engineering materials, mechatronics, propulsion, biomedical engineering, and computational design. Students gain practical experience through the MSc Research Project, where they undertake independent, original research and communicate their findings effectively, supported by modules in numerical methods and research planning and management. The program also emphasizes the application of advanced computational tools, including finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and numerical techniques for solving partial differential equations. Optional modules allow students to specialise further, exploring areas such as aircraft structural design, biomedical engineering applications, and solid mechanics. By combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and industry-relevant applications, the program equips students to tackle complex engineering challenges, optimise designs, and implement innovative solutions.
