Students undertake a substantial 15,000-word Archaeology Dissertation, developing independent research skills and producing original work under supervision. Archaeology in the Contemporary World explores how material traces of the past inform current social values and practices, while Global Cultural Heritage examines the diversity of tangible and intangible heritage worldwide. Modules in Corporate Finance, Project Management, and Principles of Risk Management equip students with essential skills to manage heritage projects effectively, balancing financial, operational, and conservation concerns. Cultural Heritage within Environmental Impact Assessment introduces the integration of heritage considerations into broader planning and development projects. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, including Ancient Mediterranean Seafaring, Maritime Museums and Heritage Management, Professional Placement in the Archaeological and Cultural Heritage Sector, and practical data-focused modules such as Data Management for Humanities Research and Text as Data. Students can also study specialised archaeological techniques through modules like The Analysis of Palaeolithic Stone Tool Assemblages and Themes in Osteoarchaeology.
