COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Banking and Financial Studies program requires students to complete a combination of core and optional modules designed to provide advanced knowledge and practical skills in banking, finance, and risk management. Core modules include the Banking, Finance and Risk Dissertation, which involves an extended independent investigation culminating in a 15,000-word dissertation that demonstrates the student’s ability to conduct rigorous research. Corporate Finance 1 and 2 cover company finance, cost of capital, sources of long-term finance, investment appraisal, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. International Banking and Money and Banking provide a detailed understanding of banking systems, financial institutions, and the broader economic context. Quantitative Research in Finance equips students with econometrics and statistical tools to analyse financial markets and corporate investment and financing decisions. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to their interests, with choices such as Behavioural Finance, which explores real-world decision-making processes; Executive Compensation, examining executive pay practices and regulatory concerns; Portfolio Theory and Asset Pricing, focusing on investment strategies and asset valuation; and Stock Market Analysis, which introduces modern finance theory and applications for equity investing. Together, these modules prepare graduates for careers in financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and global finance, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, research-based expertise.
