COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Amputation and Prosthetic Rehabilitation includes core modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation following limb loss, contemporary issues in the field, and independent research practice. The *Amputation Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Use* module focuses on developing specialist knowledge of post-amputation rehabilitation and prosthetic use. It enables students from diverse professional backgrounds such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, prosthetics, and engineering to understand the physical, functional, and psychosocial aspects of rehabilitation, alongside evidence-based clinical approaches. The *Contemporary Issues in Limb Loss* module explores current challenges and advancements in the field, including developments in prosthetic technology, healthcare delivery, and patient-centered approaches. Students critically examine the social, ethical, and global perspectives of limb loss and rehabilitation within different healthcare systems. The *MSc Dissertation* module allows students to conduct independent, original research on a topic relevant to amputation and prosthetic rehabilitation. Over a ten-month period, they develop skills in research design, critical analysis, and academic writing, producing a substantial dissertation that contributes to professional knowledge and practice. Together, these modules equip students with the clinical insight, research capability, and interdisciplinary understanding necessary for advancing practice and innovation in prosthetic rehabilitation.
