COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Aerodynamics and Computation degree offers a comprehensive study of advanced aerodynamics, focusing on the integration of physics, mathematics, and computational methods to solve complex flow problems. Core modules include Aerothermodynamics, which examines compressible fluid flow in high-speed flight; Applications of CFD, which introduces computational fluid dynamics tools and turbulence modelling; Computational Aerodynamics, which explores numerical techniques for predicting aerodynamic forces and moments; Turbulence, which focuses on the physics and equations of turbulent flows; and a substantial MSc Research Project, allowing independent investigation of a specialist topic. Students also select optional modules to tailor their expertise. These include subjects such as Advanced Aeronautics, Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics, Aeroacoustics, and Race Car Aerodynamics, enabling study in areas from aircraft design to vehicle flow optimisation. Other options like Data-Driven Fluid Mechanics, Advanced Computational Methods, and Design Search and Optimisation enhance technical proficiency in modern computational and analytical approaches. Experimental Methods for Aerodynamics provides essential hands-on experience in aerodynamic testing.
