COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Advanced Audiology program offers a comprehensive and specialised study of hearing and balance sciences, equipping students with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and research capabilities. Core modules cover advanced clinical audiology, providing in-depth theoretical understanding and practical skills for adult diagnostic assessment and management, delivered through a person-centred approach. Students also explore paediatric audiology, focusing on the unique assessment and management needs of children, and vestibular audiology, which examines balance and eye movement systems along with related pathologies. The program includes the fundamentals of auditory implants, giving a detailed overview of scientific and clinical aspects of implantation, and rehabilitation of auditory disorders, emphasising both technical and psychosocial factors in adult auditory care. The physiology and psychology of hearing module develops an understanding of the human auditory system, its limitations, and its role in communication. Applied research methods and practical support for studies involving human participants prepare students to design, conduct, and critically evaluate rigorous research projects, culminating in an MSc research project where students undertake independent investigations. Through this integration of advanced clinical practice, research methodology, and theoretical study, graduates are equipped to progress in clinical roles, research, and leadership positions in audiology, making a meaningful impact on patient care and the wider field.
