COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes Advanced Biological Sciences program focuses primarily on the MRes Research Project, which forms the core of the degree and involves extensive laboratory or fieldwork-based research within the student’s chosen specialisation. Students can tailor their studies by selecting from a wide range of advanced modules that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology. These modules cover topics such as neuroscience, pharmacology, plant biotechnology, biodiversity and conservation, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, genetics, and systems biology. Other options explore cutting-edge fields like bioinformatics, biomedical technology, cancer biology, neurodegenerative diseases, microbial ecology, and global environmental challenges. The course also offers skill-based modules in molecular bioscience, biological imaging, and data science, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise in research techniques and data analysis.
