COURSE CURRICULUM

The Philosophy MSc provides students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary and historical philosophical debates, enabling them to develop advanced research and analytical skills. Core modules such as the Philosophy Dissertation and Research Skills in Philosophy equip students to design, conduct, and present independent research on a topic of their choice. Students are also able to select from a wide range of optional modules that explore ethics, political philosophy, business, culture, and global issues. These include Business, Morality, and Markets, Organisational Ethics and Philosophy of Management, Ethics at Work, and The Ethics of Climate Change, which examine the ethical and philosophical implications of human action in diverse contexts. Other modules cover classical philosophical traditions, such as Classical Chinese Philosophy, Classical Indian Philosophy, and Heidegger and the Philosophy of Being, allowing students to explore foundational ideas and their contemporary relevance. The program also engages with modern interdisciplinary challenges, including the philosophy of psychology and artificial intelligence, the philosophy of value, and the role of data science in the humanities. Through these studies, students develop critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and practical research skills, preparing them for careers in academia, public policy, business ethics, and cultural sectors, or further postgraduate study in philosophy and related disciplines.
