COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Contemporary Curating program provides students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience necessary to excel as curators in a variety of contexts. Core modules such as Curator as Practitioner, Curatorial Challenges and Experiments, and Curatorial Histories and Contexts develop students’ understanding of professional curatorial roles, historical and theoretical frameworks, and practical approaches to exhibition design. Objects and Methods teaches students how to handle, present, and interpret cultural products, considering their significance and relationships in different contexts. The MACC Final Project allows students to consolidate their learning through a substantial practice-led research project, demonstrating their conceptual, analytical, and curatorial abilities. Professional and Academic Skills equips students with essential research and workplace competencies. Elective modules such as Creative Thinking and Problem Solving, Digital Cultures, Entrepreneurship, Experimental Publishing, Exploring the Visual Language of Display, Global Marketing, Sustainability in Business and Design, and Visual Culture offer opportunities to broaden knowledge, explore interdisciplinary perspectives, and develop innovative approaches to curating. Through a combination of workshops, tutorials, and project-based learning, students gain hands-on experience in exhibition planning, audience engagement, and digital curation. Graduates are prepared for careers in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions, equipped with the expertise to create compelling, research-led exhibitions that engage diverse audiences.
