COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Arts and Cultural Leadership equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary for leadership in the arts and cultural sectors. Core modules focus on engaging with diverse international contexts, organisations, communities, and practitioners, allowing students to explore and evaluate contemporary ways of working. Students develop critical insight into the role of arts and culture in society through the study of current debates, ideas, and leadership practices, while methods for arts and cultural research enable them to design and propose independent projects addressing real-world challenges. The program also incorporates professional and academic skills development, preparing students for future career opportunities. Industry-focused modules provide hands-on experience through collaborative projects with partner organisations, fostering skills in partnership, engagement, experimentation, and project management. Students complete a final project that integrates learning across the program, producing independent research that advances understanding of current issues in arts and cultural leadership. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to their interests, covering areas such as creative thinking and problem solving, digital cultures, entrepreneurship, experimental publishing, global marketing, sustainability, visual culture, and exploring visual language in display. Through this combination of theory, applied practice, and specialist electives, students develop the capacity to lead, innovate, and effect positive change in the arts and cultural sector.
