COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Applied Linguistics offers a comprehensive study of language learning, teaching, and research through a combination of core and optional modules. Core modules include Introduction to Research in Applied Linguistics, which explores theories, data, and methodologies used in language research; Research Skills, focusing on academic and investigative techniques; and Second Language Learning, which examines key theories of language acquisition. Students also complete a Dissertation, conducting an independent research project under expert supervision. Optional modules allow learners to tailor their studies to their interests, covering topics such as English as a World Language, Digital Education and English Language Teaching, and Corpus Linguistics for Language Teaching. Other options include modules on Task-Based Language Teaching, Language and Intercultural Communication, and Diversity and Social Justice in Language Education, reflecting the program’s global and inclusive approach. Students can also explore areas like Pragmatics, Second Language Writing, and English as a Medium of Instruction, integrating theoretical understanding with classroom practice. The course equips graduates with advanced skills in linguistic analysis, teaching methodology, and applied research, preparing them for professional roles in language education, curriculum design, and research or further study in applied linguistics and related disciplines.
