COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics with Spanish degree provides students with a comprehensive foundation in mathematics, covering algebra, calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and operational research, while also developing proficiency in Spanish. In the first year, students study core modules including the first year mathematics workshop, linear algebra, and Spanish language, alongside optional modules such as dynamics and relativity. The second year builds on these foundations with modules in analysis, partial differential equations, vector calculus, and further language study, while offering choices in areas like algorithms, financial mathematics, geometry, topology, group theory, stochastic processes, and operational research. The third year is spent abroad at a partner university in Spain, where students complete a Year Abroad Research Project in Spanish, enhancing both their academic and linguistic skills. In the final year, students undertake a mathematics project, continue advanced Spanish study, and select from a variety of specialized modules including actuarial and financial mathematics, advanced fluid dynamics, complex analysis, algebraic topology, numerical methods, mathematical biology, and optimization, among others. Throughout the degree, teaching is delivered through lectures and workshops, and students gain experience with computational tools such as Python and R. The program combines rigorous mathematical training with practical applications, language immersion, and international experience, equipping graduates with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suitable for diverse careers in mathematics, research, finance, and beyond.
