COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics with German degree offers a comprehensive study of mathematics alongside advanced language training, providing students with the opportunity to spend their third year at a partner university in Germany. In the first year, students build foundational skills in mathematics through modules such as linear algebra and applied mathematics, while developing their German language proficiency. Optional modules, such as dynamics and relativity, introduce applied concepts, bridging theoretical and practical understanding. In the second year, students advance their mathematical knowledge through analysis, partial differential equations, vector calculus, and statistical modelling, while continuing German language study and preparing for their year abroad. Elective modules allow specialisation in areas including algorithms, financial mathematics, operational research, and group theory, offering a broad base for applied and theoretical mathematics. During the third year abroad, students complete an independent Year Abroad Research Project in German, enhancing both academic and linguistic competence. In the final year, students complete a mathematics project and choose from advanced modules such as actuarial mathematics, complex analysis, optimization, numerical methods, mathematical finance, and mathematical biology. The degree integrates rigorous mathematical theory, practical application, and cultural immersion, equipping students with strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills alongside fluency in German, preparing them for careers in mathematics, finance, data analysis, and international roles.
