COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics and French degree combines rigorous mathematical training with advanced language study, preparing students for careers that require strong analytical and communication skills. In the first year, students develop foundational mathematical knowledge through modules such as linear algebra and applied mathematics, alongside French language study at Stage 4 and workshops to enhance learning and research skills. Optional modules like Dynamics and Relativity allow exploration of applied mathematics in physical contexts. In the second year, the focus shifts to deeper mathematical understanding with modules in analysis, partial differential equations, stochastic processes, vector calculus, and statistical modelling, while French study continues at Stage 5. Additional modules such as algorithms, geometry and topology, group theory, operational research, and financial mathematics offer further specialization and application of mathematical concepts. Students also engage with managing research and learning to prepare for study abroad opportunities. In the third year, students complete a Year Abroad Research Project, a substantial independent academic work in French, enhancing both linguistic and research skills. The final year combines advanced mathematics and finance modules, including actuarial mathematics, optimization, numerical methods, mathematical biology, mathematical finance, and complex analysis, alongside French Stage 7. The program equips students with strong quantitative, analytical, and language skills applicable to international careers in finance, research, education, and consultancy.
