COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics with Computer Science degree combines a strong foundation in mathematics with practical and theoretical computing skills, preparing students for careers in software development, data analysis, and IT-driven industries. In the first year, students study core mathematical topics including calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and computational mathematics, alongside programming fundamentals using Python, C, and Java. Optional modules introduce algorithmics and further programming practice. In the second year, students build on these foundations with advanced mathematical modules such as analysis, partial differential equations, statistical inference, and numerical analysis, while continuing to develop programming and computational skills. Elective modules allow exploration of areas like algorithms, geometry and topology, group theory, operational research, and mathematical modeling of physical systems. The final year focuses on a major Mathematics Project, offering independent research experience, while students can choose from specialized topics including actuarial mathematics, mathematical finance, machine learning, mathematical biology, complex analysis, advanced partial differential equations, optimization, and computational statistical inference. Additional modules cover project management, relativity, networks, and statistics for insurance. The degree emphasizes problem-solving, logical reasoning, and computational proficiency, integrating mathematical theory with real-world applications. Graduates develop versatile analytical and technical skills, equipping them for careers in technology, finance, scientific research, and consultancy, as well as providing a foundation for further study in mathematics or computer science.
