COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics (MORSE) degree integrates mathematics, statistics, operational research, and economics to equip students with analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills for diverse careers in research, finance, and industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in calculus, linear algebra, computational mathematics, and statistics, alongside core economics modules such as macroeconomics and microeconomics. Year two develops advanced mathematical and statistical techniques, including analysis, partial differential equations, statistical inference, econometrics with big data, and operational research, while offering optional modules in algorithms, dynamic macroeconomics, management, operations management, and stochastic processes to tailor studies to individual interests. In the final year, students engage in a mathematics project to research an area of interest and consolidate learning through advanced modules such as mathematical programming, advanced partial differential equations, complex analysis, machine learning, computational statistical inference, numerical methods, optimization, and project management. Additional options allow specialization in areas such as derivatives, international banking, statistical methods in insurance, survival models, and network analysis. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience with computational tools such as Python and R, applying mathematical and statistical models to real-world data, while developing critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and communication skills necessary for professional success.
