COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Accounting program provides a comprehensive understanding of both economic theory and accounting principles, preparing students for careers in finance, consultancy, and business management. The course covers microeconomics and macroeconomics, enabling students to analyse the behaviour of individuals, firms, and the wider economy, while also providing a strong foundation in financial and management accounting. Students develop practical skills through modules in financial analysis, auditing, taxation, portfolio theory, and financial markets, along with opportunities to engage with econometrics and applied economics. The program also emphasises professional development, equipping students with analytical and employability skills that are reinforced through workshops, research projects, and dissertation work. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to individual career goals, including areas such as development economics, industrial economics, international trade, labour economics, public economics, risk management, and financial management. Students gain practical experience using industry-standard tools, such as Bloomberg terminals in the Financial Laboratory, and have opportunities to take part in study abroad programs or employment placements. The course combines lectures and small group teaching with independent research, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems, conduct original research, and develop critical thinking, analytical, and professional skills for a range of economic and accounting careers.
