COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology and Psychology degree provides a comprehensive understanding of crime, criminal behaviour, psychology, and social systems through a combination of core and optional modules. Students explore advanced criminological theory in global and post-colonial contexts, contemporary issues in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and both quantitative and qualitative social research methods. The course also examines policy-making, social change, and the impacts of crime on individuals and communities. Optional modules allow students to study topics such as children and society, crime scene investigation, education policy, social stratification, law enforcement, and techno-harms, fostering analytical, research, and practical skills. Students complete a dissertation and engage in empirical research, applying their knowledge to independent projects. Additional optional modules include AI applications in psychology, advanced quantitative analysis, developmental psychopathology, cognitive psychology, digital health interventions, social neuroscience, penology, gender studies, global terrorism, and social and psychological perspectives on crime and victimisation. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, research competence, and critical analysis, preparing students for careers in criminal justice, public service, research, and psychology. It also provides opportunities to investigate contemporary social issues, emerging technologies, and broader societal and psychological factors influencing human behaviour, ensuring graduates are equipped to make informed, ethical, and impactful contributions in their chosen fields.
