COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering degree provides a thorough understanding of the principles and applications of engineering, preparing students to tackle real-world problems across a variety of fields, from automotive and robotics to biomedical and sustainable energy systems. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in mechanics, structures, materials, thermofluids, mathematics, and electrical and electronic systems, alongside computational and design skills. The second year deepens this knowledge with modules in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials and structures, mechanics and vibration, systems design, electronics and control, and engineering management and law. Students develop the ability to model, analyse, and design complex systems while gaining practical skills in computing and data analysis. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced engineering design, finite element analysis, heat transfer, manufacturing, and an individual research project that integrates knowledge from previous years. Optional modules allow students to specialise in areas such as automotive powertrains, biomaterials, control and instrumentation, acoustics, marine engineering, sustainable energy, and human factors. The program combines theoretical learning with practical experience, using workshops, laboratories, and project work, equipping graduates with the technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and industry awareness necessary for careers in engineering, research, and design innovation.
