COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Electronic Engineering degree provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the theory and practice of electronics and electrical systems across three years. In the first year, students study core subjects including circuits, digital systems, electronic devices, programming, and mathematics, alongside practical laboratory work to develop hands-on skills and apply theoretical knowledge. Fundamental concepts in electromagnetism, fields, forces, and signal processing are also introduced to prepare students for more advanced study. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied electromagnetism, communications, control and systems engineering, signal processing, and the design of electronic and computer systems. Students explore photonic devices, programming and simulation techniques, and advanced modules such as electronic and photonic devices, providing a bridge between theory and real-world applications. In the third year, students undertake an individual project in two phases to gain in-depth practical experience, while also selecting from a wide range of specialized modules including advanced computer architecture, analogue and mixed-signal electronics, digital and control system design, embedded networked systems, machine learning, robotics, nanoelectronic devices, photonics, green electronics, and real-time computing. The program emphasizes the integration of design, programming, and experimental skills, preparing graduates to contribute to modern electronic systems, communication technologies, and innovative engineering solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.
