COURSE CURRICULUM

This electrical and electronic engineering degree equips students with the knowledge and skills to design, analyse, and manage modern electrical systems and technologies. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in circuits, digital systems, electronic devices, signals, control, and communications, supported by programming, mathematics, and laboratory practice. They also gain insight into materials, electromagnetism, and fundamental engineering principles, developing analytical and practical skills applicable across electrical engineering. The second year expands this foundation through modules in applied electromagnetism, control and systems engineering, electrical machines and drives, power circuits and transmission, signal processing, simulation and modelling, and design projects, fostering both theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving skills. Students also study electrical and mechanical materials to understand system behaviour under various forces. In the final year, students engage in high-voltage engineering, power systems technology, and a two-part individual project, providing opportunities for specialised research and applied experience. Optional modules allow exploration of advanced topics such as control system design, digital control, system identification, optimisation, operational research, power electronics, robotic systems, integral transform methods, and navigation guidance. The course combines rigorous theoretical learning with hands-on laboratory and project experience, preparing graduates for careers in electrical engineering, power systems, automation, robotics, and advanced technological development.
