COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering degree provides a strong foundation in sustainable design, analysis, and practical application across all major areas of the discipline. In the first year, students gain core knowledge through modules such as An Introduction to Civil Engineering Design and Digital Skills, Mathematics for Engineering and the Environment, and ThermoFluids. These develop essential mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while introducing thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and digital design tools. The second year deepens understanding through modules like City Infrastructure Design Project, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, and Structural Design, focusing on real-world applications such as urban development, water flow systems, and the behavior of soils and structures under various conditions. Modules in mathematics and numerical methods strengthen computational and analytical proficiency. In the final year, students apply their learning in advanced areas, including Geotechnical Engineering, Highway and Traffic Engineering, and Structural Stability and Finite Element Analysis. The Individual Project and Integrated Design modules provide opportunities to solve complex engineering problems and design sustainable solutions. Optional modules, such as Urban Design, Railway Engineering, Human Factors in Engineering, and Urban Water and Wastewater Engineering, allow students to specialize in areas of interest, preparing them for diverse and impactful careers in civil engineering and infrastructure development.
