COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Aerospace Electronic Engineering degree provides students with a strong foundation in electronics, control systems, and aerospace technologies, preparing them for careers in the aerospace industry. In the first year, students study core subjects including circuits, digital systems, electronic devices, programming, signals and communications, engineering mathematics, fields, forces, and materials, along with practical laboratory work to apply theoretical knowledge. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics such as aerospace simulation and modelling, applied electromagnetism, communications, control and systems engineering, electrical machines and drives, flight mechanics, signal processing, and design. These modules develop analytical and practical skills essential for understanding and designing aerospace electronic systems. In the third year, students explore guidance, navigation and control, radar techniques, space systems engineering, and undertake a two-phase individual project to gain in-depth, practical experience in a focused area. Optional modules include advanced partial differential equations, control system design, digital control system design, system identification, manufacturing and materials, mechanical power transmission and vibration, real-time computing, robotic systems, cyber-physical security, signal and image processing, and wireless and optical communications. Across the three years, the degree combines theoretical study with hands-on laboratory work and design projects, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to tackle modern aerospace engineering challenges and contribute to the development of innovative aircraft and spacecraft technologies.
