COURSE CURRICULUM

This Human Geography degree provides a comprehensive understanding of global societies, economies, and environments, emphasizing the social processes that shape human experiences. In the first year, students are introduced to globalization, urban and natural environments, risk and sustainability, geopolitics, development, and the historical and contemporary role of geography. They also gain practical skills through field courses and explore social, cultural, and spatial dynamics, with options to study intercultural communication, life in the cosmos, or education systems. In the second year, the focus shifts to preparing for independent research, with modules covering human geography concepts, research methods, global health, sustainability, urban challenges, inequality, demographic changes, and political and economic development in different contexts. Specialist modules allow students to explore topics such as India’s development, geographies of wellbeing, race and ethnicity, cultural geographies, and advanced geographic information systems. The final year emphasizes independent research through an individual project while offering advanced modules on climate change adaptation, environmental law, health, economic geography, migration, social justice, sustainable resource management, the creative economy, and professional skills. Fieldwork, practical projects, and theoretical study are integrated throughout, equipping graduates with analytical, research, and employability skills for careers in consultancy, policy, research, and related fields.
