COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film, TV, and Digital Media degree offers a comprehensive study of media theory, culture, and practice across three years. In the first year, students explore the foundations of digital media through modules like Digital Media: Contexts and Histories and Digital Media: Culture and Identity, examining how technology, society, and identity intersect. They also study Film Theory, Media, Culture and Society, and Introduction to Film: Form, Style and Analysis, developing analytical and critical skills in visual storytelling. The second year deepens understanding with core modules such as Digital Media and the World of Work, Digital Media: Professional Practice, and Television Studies: Key Debates, combining theoretical knowledge with practical and professional awareness. Optional modules offer diverse specialisations, including Animation, Film Noir, Global Cinemas, Women and Hollywood, Queering the Digital, and Humanities and Professional Practice placements. In the final year, students take Video Games in Context and choose from advanced topics such as American Cinema Since 1965, Environmental Cinema, Horror on Film, International Film Industry, Music in Film and Television, or Popular Global Screen Cultures. This interdisciplinary program combines critical theory, creative practice, and professional development, preparing graduates for careers in film, television, digital media, and related industries.
