COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management offers a comprehensive curriculum that develops expertise in managing workplace safety, environmental sustainability, and corporate responsibility. Core modules include Health and Safety Management, which equips students with the knowledge and skills to design effective management systems that comply with legal and statutory requirements, and Corporate Social Responsibility for Organisational Managers, which explores the application of ISO 26000 guidance within integrated management systems. Law for the Built Environment underpins these studies by highlighting the significance of legal aspects in supporting responsible business practice. Environmental Management focuses on ISO 14001 standards, business improvement strategies, and performance evaluation using key indicators such as energy use and audits. Workplace Evaluation and Control emphasizes systematic risk analysis, hazard identification, and legislative compliance, going beyond minimum standards to promote safer working environments. Business and Risk Management develops understanding of management systems, financial considerations, and risk management at both strategic and operational levels, ensuring students can balance organizational needs with effective risk control. The program is completed with an individual dissertation, a guided research project that allows students to investigate a chosen area in depth, applying research methodology and critical analysis to produce professional, evidence-based conclusions.
