COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Music Engineering and Production program offers a comprehensive range of modules designed to develop advanced technical, creative, and professional skills in music production and sound engineering. The Post-Production module focuses on both theoretical understanding and practical application, covering foley, sound design, mixing, editing, spotting, voice-over, and sound effects generation across media such as film, television, and video games. HART explores historical developments and contemporary manifestations in music, encouraging critical analysis and the development of individual technique through extensive repertoire studies. The Recording module provides hands-on experience in modern studio environments, teaching the use of microphones, preamps, analogue and digital consoles, multi-track recording, mixing, editing, processing, and operational safety. The Production Portfolio module supports self-directed development, enabling students to plan and execute projects that reflect their skills, interests, and aspirations while building a professional body of work. Immersive Audio introduces spatial hearing and practical applications of stereo, binaural, 5.1, and ambisonic systems, giving students experience with cutting-edge surround technologies. Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship equips students with the tools to develop business ideas, social enterprises, or cultural innovations, situating creativity within broader societal, economic, and political frameworks. The Final Major Project allows students to integrate knowledge and skills gained throughout the course, completing an ambitious, independent project that demonstrates advanced technical ability, creative insight, and critical awareness in music production.
