COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Health and Public Service Management program provides a comprehensive framework for developing both academic knowledge and professional skills relevant to healthcare and public service leadership. Students complete a 60-credit dissertation on a topic of their choice, allowing them to explore a specialised area in depth and apply research skills to practical challenges. The Health Policy and Innovation module introduces theoretical approaches to health and policy-making, encouraging reflective thinking on public service innovation. Academic and Professional Skills focuses on developing postgraduate-level writing, communication, IT capabilities, and professional attributes while ensuring academic integrity. Managing People and Organisations in the Public Sector examines key concepts in organizational behaviour and management, applying these principles within a public sector context. Managing Resources and Projects addresses the practical challenges associated with resourcing and project management in the UK public sector. Strategy and Leadership develops critical understanding of strategic planning and leadership approaches, equipping students with the skills needed to lead and manage services effectively. Conducting Research enhances students’ ability to plan, execute, and report research, fostering an understanding of social and policy research methodologies. By combining theoretical study, practical application, and focused research, the program prepares graduates to respond to complex challenges, make informed decisions, and contribute strategically to the improvement and management of public services.
