COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Digital Forensics program equips students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to address the growing challenges of cybercrime and digital investigations. Students develop a critical understanding of digital forensic standards, compliance, and accreditation, learning to apply industry best practices and tools to solve diverse forensic problems. Networking technologies are explored to understand how computer systems communicate, enabling students to design and implement network solutions that meet international standards. The course also covers emerging technologies such as drones, AI, and connected vehicles, examining their implications for forensic investigation and how data from these sources can be analysed. Secure operations and incident management are emphasised, providing the capability to respond effectively to cyber-attacks while maintaining business functionality. Advanced digital forensic techniques deepen practical and theoretical expertise in data recovery and evidence analysis across multiple platforms, including computer systems and mobile devices. Mobile device forensics focuses on encryption, security protocols, and application data, equipping students to handle increasingly complex devices. The MSc project allows students to undertake an independent, in-depth investigation of a topical issue, integrating research and technical skills to produce informed, actionable solutions. Graduates are prepared for careers in law enforcement, corporate security, consultancy, or further research, with the expertise to navigate the evolving digital landscape.
