COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Data Science program offers two distinct streams designed to prepare students for advanced roles in the data-driven industry. Stream one focuses on applied statistics and data analysis, providing students with expertise in data acquisition, statistical analysis, and forecasting techniques. Through modules such as Applied Statistics for Data Science and Data Mining and Statistical Forecasting, students gain practical experience in diverse sectors including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. Emphasis is placed on effectively communicating results to business stakeholders and applying analytical insights to real-world challenges. Project Management and Research Methodology equips students with the skills to plan, conduct, and manage independent research projects, including literature reviews and technical reporting. The MSc Research Project allows students to undertake an independent investigation, potentially collaborating with companies or developing their own research proposals, demonstrating their ability to apply knowledge to practical problems. Stream two emphasizes computational and engineering skills, covering database management, programming, applied machine learning, and big data engineering. Students gain hands-on experience with cloud computing frameworks such as AWS, developing practical skills in handling large-scale structured and unstructured datasets. Across both streams, the program ensures graduates are proficient in analysis, problem-solving, and research, preparing them for careers as data scientists, analysts, or engineers in industry, academia, or research environments.
