COURSE CURRICULUM

The Networking Technologies and Cyber Security course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the technical, managerial, and strategic aspects of cyber security and network systems. Students develop technical and theoretical knowledge of network structures, architectures, and solutions, applying international standards and best practices in analysis and design. The program emphasizes leadership and transformational change in the digital era, helping students explore organisational change, IT processes, and cyber security strategies while honing problem-solving and analytical skills through case studies and decision-making exercises. Modules on crisis and operational resilience deepen understanding of risk management, crisis management, and operational security, equipping students to respond effectively to industrial and organisational threats. Protecting Critical National Infrastructure is another key focus, with attention to essential assets, IoT devices, threat mitigation strategies, and resilience planning. Students also gain insight into legislation, risk, and governance, developing a critical understanding of UK and EU laws, organisational responsibilities, and ethical practices in cyberspace. Security management and incident response modules provide practical and analytical experience, including simulations to demonstrate competency in complex security operations. The program culminates in an MSc dissertation project, allowing students to investigate a topical, award-relevant issue in depth and propose a justified, informed solution. Graduates are prepared for careers in network security, cyber risk management, digital governance, and critical infrastructure protection.
