COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computing and Information Systems course provides a comprehensive foundation in key areas of modern computing while emphasizing practical and analytical skills essential for the IT industry. The course begins with Principles of Computing, which equips students with essential programming and database skills forming the basis for more advanced study. In Software Development, students apply programming techniques to plan, design, and implement solutions for complex problem scenarios. Big Data and Analytics introduces methods to manage, interpret, and extract value from large datasets, enabling informed decision-making in real-world contexts. ICT Systems Development further enhances database and technological skills, with a particular focus on solving spatial and geographic problems. Optional modules allow students to specialise in Networking Technologies, gaining the skills to design and maintain computer networks, or GIS Principles and Practice, focusing on spatial data analysis and visualisation. Project Management and Research Methodology prepares students to approach complex projects critically, using evidence-based research and appropriate strategies. The MSc Project represents the culmination of the program, where students investigate a chosen topic in depth, applying their technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to develop a practical, innovative solution. This course equips graduates to confidently enter diverse computing environments as skilled professionals capable of addressing complex challenges.
