COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the MSc Clinical Psychology program, students build a strong foundation in understanding mental health and psychological disorders, combining theoretical knowledge with practical research skills. The Research Methods in Clinical Psychology module introduces students to measurement, data analysis, and professional issues, preparing them to conduct ethical and rigorous research. The History, Concepts, and Controversies in Mental Health module explores the evolution of mental health practice, highlighting key debates and differing perspectives on mental illness. Students gain insight into evidence-based Interventions, examining therapeutic approaches and treatment techniques for a range of psychological conditions. Perspectives on Psychological Disorders focuses on understanding cognitive, developmental, social, and biological factors that contribute to mental health challenges, enabling students to critically evaluate theories and research in the field. Addiction, Dependence, and Deviance examines the psychological, social, and behavioural aspects of substance use and related disorders, exploring both causes and interventions. The Dissertation in Clinical Psychology offers students the opportunity to apply research methods, design and conduct an independent study, and critically analyse findings. Through these modules, students develop a solid grounding in clinical psychology, research competence, and analytical skills, preparing them for further study or applied work in mental health, therapeutic practice, or clinical research contexts.
