COURSE CURRICULUM

The course provides a comprehensive exploration of advanced computing and artificial intelligence, equipping students with the skills needed to design, develop, and implement intelligent systems in complex real-world environments. Students begin by learning project management and research methodology, which enables them to plan projects, address risks and ethical considerations, and conduct thorough literature reviews to support organizational change or innovation. Principles of computing are studied to provide a solid foundation in programming, database systems, and computing technologies, allowing students to create solutions to multifaceted problems using appropriate tools and techniques. The program then deepens into computational applications of artificial intelligence, covering complex data management, statistical analysis, and practical AI applications in engineering and data science. Knowledge-based systems are examined to support human decision-making, emphasizing best practices, ethical considerations, and societal impacts of AI solutions. Machine learning and autonomous systems introduce students to algorithms, support vector machines, dimensionality reduction, reinforcement learning, and AI models, while deep learning builds on these skills to solve real-world problems using innovative tools. The MSc project serves as the culmination, allowing students to conduct an in-depth investigation of a topical issue, applying computing and research skills to deliver a justified, research-informed solution to a significant challenge, preparing them for advanced roles in AI and technology development.
