COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Cyber Security course equips students with a comprehensive understanding of both technical and managerial aspects of cyber security, preparing them to address complex challenges in the digital landscape. The program covers advanced security techniques and concepts, providing in-depth knowledge of attack and defence mechanisms, enabling students to identify vulnerabilities and implement effective protective strategies. Applied artificial intelligence in cyber security is explored, allowing students to use AI methods to tackle real-world cyber threats. Students also gain expertise in security management and incident response, developing the ability to manage complex security operations, investigate incidents, and make informed decisions under pressure. The course includes a focus on legislation, risk, and governance, fostering a critical understanding of UK and EU laws, regulatory requirements, and organisational responsibilities in cyberspace. Network security is examined, with practical applications in protecting mobile devices and evaluating investigative solutions. Leadership and transformational change in the digital era is also studied, equipping students with skills to guide teams and manage strategic change in dynamic technological environments. The program culminates in an MSc dissertation, where students apply their technical and research skills to investigate a topical issue, producing a well-justified solution and demonstrating their expertise, analytical thinking, and professional readiness for careers in cyber security.
