COURSE CURRICULUM

The course provides a comprehensive approach to developing both practical skills and industry knowledge for aspiring filmmakers. The Industry module offers students the opportunity to gain real-world work experience in their chosen field, guided by industry partners. Through lectures on professionalism, industry entry, film festivals, and fundraising, alongside workshops focused on online presence and portfolio development, students are prepared to navigate the professional landscape. The Specialist Craft Practice and Advanced Specialist Craft Practice modules focus on refining technical and creative abilities within a chosen discipline, combining lectures, practical exercises, and tutorials to build a portfolio that meets both assessment and industry standards. Film: Theory and Play bridges the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to collaborate across pathways and explore concepts and techniques through workshops and film exercises. Collaborative Practice emphasizes teamwork in production, guiding students to create a 6–9 minute film while learning about production hierarchies, processes, deadlines, and budget management. The course culminates in the Major Production Project, where students produce a 12–15 minute film along with supporting materials, receiving continuous feedback and guidance throughout. Overall, the program equips students with the skills, experience, and professional understanding needed to succeed in the competitive filmmaking industry.
