COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law and Criminology degree provides students with a thorough foundation in both legal studies and criminological theory, blending practical legal training with a deeper exploration of crime and justice. In the first year, students develop essential skills through modules such as Academic and Professional Legal Skills, Criminal Law, Law and the State, Legal Systems and Methods, The Law of Contract, and The Law of Torts. This grounding in core areas equips them with a strong understanding of the legal system and its operation. In the second year, the focus expands to include Crime, Justice and Society, Criminal Evidence, Land Law, and Law on Trial, while practical experience is gained through Learning through the Workplace. Optional modules such as Access to Justice, Family Law, Law and Technology in Practice, and Public Legal Education allow students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. The final year builds advanced expertise with Contemporary Legal Research, Equity and the Law of Trusts, and Advanced Criminal Law, alongside optional modules including Corporate Criminal Liability, Medical Law, Miscarriages of Justice, and The Law Relating to Children.
