COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport and Exercise Science program is a three-year degree designed to develop students’ knowledge and practical skills in human performance, exercise, and health. In the first year, students build foundational understanding through modules in measurement and evaluation of human performance, exercise prescription for non-referred populations, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, sport performance, and introductory sport and exercise psychology. This year emphasizes developing analytical, technical, and theoretical skills required for applied practice. The second year expands on these foundations, focusing on exercise physiology, exercise for special populations, sports injuries, biomechanics, sports nutrition, and advanced sport and exercise psychology. Students also gain research experience through dedicated modules and practical learning via a sport placement, allowing them to apply theory in real-world contexts and develop professional competence. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a dissertation and advanced modules in applied movement analysis, advanced exercise physiology, environmental physiology, performance psychology, and strength and conditioning. Work-based learning opportunities further enhance professional skills and industry readiness. Throughout the program, students integrate scientific theory with practical application, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice skills. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in sports science support, performance analysis, coaching, health promotion, rehabilitation, and related areas, or for further study in applied sport and exercise science or healthcare professions.
