COURSE CURRICULUM

The Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of construction, cost management, and the commercial aspects of the built environment. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in areas such as built environment law, economics, and principles, while exploring construction technology, digital technologies, and the social and developmental aspects of construction projects. This year lays the groundwork for understanding how construction projects are planned, managed, and delivered. The second year focuses on practical and technical skills essential to quantity surveying, including measurement, tendering, costing, contract management, and project management. Students also develop expertise in BIM and data management, as well as advanced construction technology, equipping them to manage complex projects efficiently and accurately. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a built environment dissertation and advanced modules in construction cost management, commercial management, and enterprise. They also explore advanced measurement techniques and sustainability and decarbonisation practices within the built environment, ensuring they are prepared to address contemporary industry challenges. Throughout the program, students combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, gaining the analytical, financial, and professional skills necessary for careers as quantity surveyors, commercial managers, cost consultants, and project managers in the dynamic and evolving construction industry.
