COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Criminology program combines psychological theory with criminological study, providing students with a cross-disciplinary understanding of human behavior, crime, and the criminal justice system. In the first year, students explore core psychological perspectives, including biological, cognitive, social, and developmental approaches, while learning research methods, ethical considerations, and the fundamentals of developmental criminology, such as risk and protective factors influencing criminal behavior. They also study the journey of individuals through the criminal justice system, examining how legal processes and individual differences affect treatment. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced research methods, neuroscience, and social and developmental psychology, alongside practical criminology modules covering violent crime, investigative techniques, and professional practice. Students gain hands-on experience and develop transferable skills relevant to careers in psychology and criminal justice. The final year emphasizes independent research through a dissertation and offers optional modules that allow specialization in areas such as prisons, probation, resettlement, homicide, domestic abuse, health psychology, forensic psychology, social psychology, cognitive neuropsychology, and psychological disorders. The course integrates theory with practical application, equipping graduates with analytical, research, and professional skills. Students leave prepared for careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, law enforcement, rehabilitation, research, and related fields, with the knowledge and expertise to understand, prevent, and manage crime effectively.
