COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health, Wellbeing and Social Care Management degree provides a structured pathway that develops both practical and managerial skills for working in the sector. In the first year, students build strong foundations through modules in study skills, health and wellbeing, and law, ethics, and policy. They also begin professional development and explore the fundamentals of leadership and management in health and social care practice. The second year focuses on applying this knowledge to real-world contexts, with modules on wellbeing in communities, communication and intervention, and integrated leadership and management. Research skills are also introduced to help students link theory to practice effectively. In the final year, students can tailor their studies with optional modules such as disaster healthcare, reducing health inequalities, or leadership in health and social care, alongside core modules that address contemporary issues, leading and managing change, and advanced professional development. The project module provides an opportunity to carry out independent research on a topic of interest, while the “train the trainer” option develops teaching and mentoring skills. By the end of the course, students are prepared to step into roles that demand critical thinking, effective management, and leadership in a variety of health and social care environments.
