COURSE CURRICULUM

The Football Coaching and Performance degree is structured to combine theory, practice, and professional experience, enabling students to develop the skills needed to work in coaching and performance roles at various levels of the game. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through modules such as Football Coaching for Young Performers, the Coaching Process, and Introduction to Football Performance Analysis, alongside sport science and community football development. Academic research and professional skills are also introduced to support future study and practice. The second year builds on this with a focus on adolescent performers, coaching pedagogy, and advanced performance analysis. Research methods are developed to prepare for final-year projects, while sport science knowledge is expanded and applied more directly to football. Students also benefit from a professional placement, gaining practical experience within the industry. In the third year, the program emphasizes applied professional practice with modules such as Performance Football Coaching, Football Psychology, and Strength and Conditioning. Learners also explore advanced analysis in football coaching and performance, undertake work-based learning, and complete an applied professional project or dissertation. The course prepares graduates to pursue careers in coaching, performance analysis, sport science, and related professional football environments.
