COURSE CURRICULUM

The BCS-accredited Computing degree is a three-year program designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required for careers in the fast-paced IT industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core computing concepts, including designing and implementing interactive systems, computer systems and network technologies, computer programming, information engineering, and mathematics and statistics for computing. Professionalism and employability skills are also embedded to prepare students for the workplace. The second year expands on this knowledge with modules in project management and professional practice, dynamic website development, web content management technologies, database development, team application projects, and operating system theory and implementation. These modules enhance practical experience and develop teamwork, problem-solving, and project management skills. In the third year, students focus on advanced topics such as integrated computing devices, advanced databases and modelling, advanced internet and mobile computing, GIS and the spatial web, and individual projects that allow them to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. The Computing Professional in Practice module further strengthens employability and professional awareness. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience through projects, collaborative work, and practical exercises, ensuring they graduate with a strong portfolio, technical expertise, and the confidence to pursue careers as software developers, IT specialists, system analysts, network engineers, or to continue in advanced computing studies.
