COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science degree offers a structured three-year program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory experience, preparing students for careers in healthcare, research, and the biomedical industry. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in human growth and development, anatomy and physiology, cellular diversity, genetics, and evolution, alongside practical experience in biomedical science techniques and professional development. The second year expands on this foundation with advanced modules in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microorganisms and disease, cellular pathology, human molecular genetics, and professional practice through placements, providing real-world experience and exposure to laboratory and clinical environments. Students learn to apply scientific principles to investigate disease processes and understand the mechanisms underlying human health. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project, consolidating their skills and knowledge while exploring specialized topics such as human variation, global health challenges, modern molecular advances, bench-to-bedside approaches, and regenerative medicine. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on practical skills, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional competencies, including ethical and regulatory considerations. Graduates leave the course equipped with technical expertise, hands-on experience, and professional readiness, enabling them to pursue careers in biomedical research, clinical laboratories, diagnostics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or further postgraduate study in biomedical and medical sciences.
