COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biology degree offers a structured, three-year program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills and professional development. In the first year, students gain a foundational understanding of genetics and evolution, the diversity of cellular life, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biodiversity, and ecological principles, while developing essential scientific and professional skills. The second year builds on this foundation with more specialized modules, including evolutionary biology, human molecular genetics, comparative vertebrate zoology, behavioural ecology, applied tropical conservation, and microbiology through "The Invisible World." Students also engage in professional practice and placements, gaining real-world experience and insight into potential career paths. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project, applying their knowledge and analytical skills to investigate a chosen topic in depth. Advanced modules cover humans and other primates, human variation, global health and ecological challenges, aquatic biology, functional ecology, and regenerative medicine, providing a broad perspective on contemporary biological issues. Throughout the program, students benefit from hands-on laboratory work, field trips, and practical research experience, developing critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
