COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Cyber Security program offers a comprehensive three-year curriculum that combines theoretical foundations with practical, real-world applications to prepare students for careers in cyber security. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in computer systems, network configuration, programming, and information security, while developing professional skills, employability, and an understanding of legal, ethical, and social considerations in computing. The second year advances technical expertise with modules on secure web applications, cloud security, digital crime scene management, secure systems, compliance and risk management, and critical systems and infrastructure. Students gain hands-on experience in digital forensics, threat prevention, and secure system design, while conducting a cyber crime research project to prepare for final year studies. In the third year, students focus on advanced cyber security practices, including secure operations, incident management, and optional modules in security operations, penetration testing, and digital forensics. The program culminates in a cyber dissertation project, enabling students to research, design, and evaluate solutions to complex security challenges. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on practical problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional development, ensuring graduates are equipped with the technical knowledge, investigative skills, and professional competence to work confidently in sectors such as finance, government, healthcare, and technology, addressing cyber threats and safeguarding digital infrastructure.
