COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Civil Engineering program is a structured three-year course that blends theoretical knowledge with practical experience to prepare students for careers in construction, infrastructure, and engineering consultancy. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in core engineering principles, including mathematics, thermofluid mechanics, civil engineering materials, engineering mechanics, and professional communication. These modules develop analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills essential for future study. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialized topics such as structural mechanics and design, geotechnics and engineering geology, hydraulics and hydrology, highways and transportation, and analytical and numerical methods. Students also gain practical experience in practicing civil engineering, applying theory to real-world contexts and developing project management and professional skills. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through individual and integrated projects, exploring advanced concepts in structural engineering, geotechnical analysis and design, hydraulics and environmental engineering, and civil engineering project management. The program emphasizes practical application, teamwork, and industry-relevant skills, preparing graduates to tackle engineering challenges with confidence. Upon completion, students have the technical expertise, analytical ability, and professional knowledge needed to work in civil engineering design, construction, infrastructure planning, and consultancy, or to pursue further postgraduate study in the field.
